Day 4

Up at 530am and all in a grumpy mood, we said sad goodbyes to Dave and Isobel and headed to Paris via Brussels. On the way, Richard mentioned that an acquaintance of his said that Brussels was just another city, but that Brugge was worth a visit. So we turned the winnebago beast towards Brugge and parked. Everything appeared closed in the part of the city that we parked in, but we found a little shop that sold food and we tucked into some pasta. Fed, we decided to find a Chocolatier to sample some famous Belgian chocolates.Easier said than done. We walked and searched and asked and walked and asked for almost an hour before we stumbled upon one just as we were about to give up and queued behind about a dozen Japanese tourists who thought nothing of spending 90 Euros on chocolates. After waiting for 45 minutes and eventually leaving with our overpriced chocolates, we started back to the carand on the way passed approximately 300 Chocolatiers, I kid you not!As we passed by a Cathedral, I popped in
and it was one of those serendipitous moments: I was astounded by the beauty - absolutely hauntingly beautiful ancient church.

Richard has attached a picture of the area behind the church - like a stepback in time. Our impression of Brugge is that it is picturesque, but very expensive. 965Euros for a leather jacket! And not very hygienic, they have public urinals - like five petaled flowers on the pavement. Just weird!

Then it was off to Paris, our GPs taking us through the very centre of Paris to the campsite in the heart of the city. Wow, that sounds amazing hey? Yes it is, but you forget: we did it in a campervan. The French are not patient drivers and we were hooted at and overtaken and generally despised as Richard valiantly took over entire streets designed more for smart cars than our clumsy, lumbering giant. And so we are in romatic Paris. We had pizzas for supper as we are really tired and are crashing early.
Goodnite.
